[/div] 2:05 SYMPOSIUM: Be Loyal, as Jesus Was ( Acts 2:27) INTRODUCTION: Like his Father Jesus is perfectly loyal, he demonstrated his loyalty in many different circumstances throughout his life. How can we demonstrate similar loyalty. Obeying one's parents is an essential aspect of loyality to Jehovah (Prov 1:8), there are seval reasons why this is esspecially differi - develop negative attitudes towards their parents - influence of tv and entertainment depicting parents as slow or bumbling. - negtive peer pressure (see Prov 13:20) JESUS chose his associates wisely as a youth. (Lk 2:51, 51 ftn). Although perfect he perfect remained in subjected to his imperfect parents. He didn't attempt to tell his parents how to raise his siblings and run their household. Jesus honored his parents (meaning love and respect them) and obeyed them even when he may have disagreed with them. Provided sincere commendation for how he (Jesus) was raised - see Lk 2:48-49 CONCLUSION View your parents as friends and remember listening to your parents even when you don't get your way (see Eph 6:1,2). Happy family, feeling of joy because one is doing what Jehovah asks and a happy future. VIDEO #1 Serge. Young violinist wants to play the violin professionally. He obeys even though he doesn't agree or understand.

2:05 SYMPOSIUM: Be Loyal, as Jesus Was ( Acts 2:27) Jesus was persecuted throughout his life. Satan wanted to undermine his loyalty. How did Jesus cope? - Did not focus on the persecution but on God's word (Jh 17:1, 4) - Refused to retaliate (( 1 Pet 2: 21-23 ) - When possible he removed himself from danger (Jh 11:54) Since all Christians will also be persecuted we can prepare ourselves for what lies ahead (2 Tim 3:12; Mt 13:20)) - develop deep faith by study and remove "rocks" (rocks deep seated bitterness, negative attitudes) - Maintain the correct attitude towards our persecutors (Romans 12:19-21). Reinforce your love and trust now and focus on the benefits of endurance. Satan's aim is to undermine our loyalty and remember Jehovah will never leave those that are loyal to him. VIDEO: Serge #2 Persecuted under ban. * ore on coals, impurities seperate lower metals, soften the attitude of persecutors Since Satan cannot read our minds he oberves us closely. And once he identifies our weak spots these will be repeatedly exploited. Jesus successfully met the challenge to his temptation by referring to God's word. - Misuse of power to satisfy a selfish desire and be kind to ourselves (Mat 4:4, 4) - Misue his god given authority (Mat 4:6) - Tempting offers (Mat 4:7-10) Recognize temptations come at unexpected times, memorize and meditate on scriptures that deal with our weaknesses before the temptation arises. Jehovah must be the most important person in our lives making compromise unthinkable. Meditate on how our giving in to a temptation would hurt Jehovah and damage our relationship with him. Pray intently VIDEO: Serge #3 In prison Serge meditates on Romans 8: 32; offered freedom in return for signing a form renouncing his faith CONCLUSION: Satan cannot force us to break our integrity, be resolved to stay firm.

2:05 SYMPOSIUM: Be Loyal, as Jesus Was ( Acts 2:27) We all appreciate appropriate praise but it can expose our lack humility. - Don't allow flattery [insincere or exessive praise especially to forward one's own interests] to effect his thinking, teaching or how he treated others(Luke 20:21-26) - Jesus reject honorific titles and doesn't want his followers to make class distinctions (Mat 23:8) - (Mk 10:17,18) Even if praise is well deserved remember - our successes come from Jehovah (2 Cor 3:5) - Continually work on the quality of humility so our strengths do become our weaknesses (Prov 27:2). Keep a humble mindset not working Pride will lead to disloyality and Jehovah's disapproval. Give glory to whom it belongs. VIDEO: Serge #4 Serge is praised as "a man of the people" but handles the praise correctly Serving Jehovah is a challenge when we are physically or emotionally tired and Satan exploits this. Jesus travelled over a wide territory (see bible maps) and was sometimes physically exhausted (Heb 12:3) - He viewed the work as life sustaining and refreshing (Jh 4) - He kept working (Mk 6:31-34) - He fully relied on Jehovah through prayer (see Mt 26:39-43; Isaiah 40) - read God's word daily - make good use of spiritual sources VIDEO: Serge #5 Exhausted from his secular work and family responsibilities Serge meditates on Rom 8:37 to not lose his joy

2:05 SYMPOSIUM: Be Loyal, as Jesus Was ( Acts 2:27) At times our tests of loyality come from where we least expect it: friends and family, in fact acknowledged a mans "enemies" may come from our family or even within the congregation perhaps from a friend may withdraw from us at we put spiritual things first (See Mat 10:35-36). Many have faced the ultimate "abandonment" of losing a friend in death. JESUS' disciples on one occassion abandoned him for his teaching and his Apostles abandoned him when he needed them the most. Yet Jesus never let the negative of others effect his personal relationship with Jehovah. Jesus could endure any difficulty because Jehovah was his most intimate and his best friend and he had confidence that Jehovah would never abandon him (John 16:32). Jesus also knew his 11 faithful Apostles would return and that despite their weaknesses loved Jehovah just as he did. Jesus knew Jehovah would reverse the effects of death. - Stay close to Jehovah (Psalms 27:10) - Jehovah promises to fill any void left by disloyal associates "he will take you in". ELIJAH felt alone, abandoned by all faithful servants. Jehovah pointed out the 7000 others that were faithful and this strengthened him. - Draw strength from other loyal associates. The most solid friendships we can build are with those that truly love Jehovah. - Draw comfort fromt he resurrection hope VIDEO: Serge #6 Alexia, good friend and "second father" to serge, abandons the truth Be determined to never leave Jehovah for he will never leave us! " Death is the most terrible of all things for it is the end" Aristotle. The fear of death, referred to as "death anxiety", is something many face. Fear of being forgotten, fear what happens at and after death and even for God's servants death represents a formidable eventuallity. Jehovah's people however will never be disloyal to Him in order to prolong their lives (Rom 3:38-39). All loyal once are convinced we will not be seperated from Jehovah's love. We must however make wise choices at this crucial time. JESUS met the challenging circumstances of his death. - he made good decisions: he refused drugs that could have weakened his resolve confuse his thinking. He put the well being of others (Mary) - He stayed focused on how his faithful endurance would contribute to the sanctification of Jehovah's name and that his loyalty would result in his being reunited with Jehovah and provided a reply to Satan (Heb 12:2). Jesus stayed focused on his need for Jehovah to continue. Wise Decisions: - Decide now before extreme circumstances - select a faithful healthcare agent - funeral arrangements (harmonize with scriptural principles) explaining them to non-witness relatives - acceptable treatments Stay focused - reflect on how our faithfulness even to death will add to the countless examples of faith - relect on our solid hope of the resurrections and future blessings. - supplicate Jehovah for the courage we need to remain loyal. VIDEO: Serge #7 Serge faces a life threatening operation but stands firm on the blood issue CONCLUSION In this system all of us are terminally ill with sin, our only hope to a complete cure is the ransom. Loyalty is not just faithfulness it is faithfulness motivated by love and if we have that we can created ongoing pattern of godly acts as was the case of Jesus, whose pattern of loyalty was not broken. May our love for Jehovah continue to grow each and every day and may it be our determination to be loyal as Jesus was.

3:20 SYMPOSIUM: Loyally Uphold Jehovah’s Judgments INTRODUCTION: All significant battles are waged within ourselves and we must be inclined to self examination: Do we acknowledge Jehovah's right to set the standard for what is right or wrong. Satan's world has lost its moral values and if we are not careful we could adopt its standards. Being loyal means more than just avoiding wrong acts; its not being indifferent or neutral its a feeling of discust, an intense feeling of aversion. However sexual immorality, pornography and a tendency to pride can appleal to our imperfect flesh. To help, ask why, connect the dots, think about the harm, the consequences of pleasurable but harmful endeavors (Ps 119: 104) VIDEO #1 Young girl raised by zealous parents begins to yearn for the world in her teens. Falls for a worldy boy and commits fornication. Satan wants us to abandon the way; a sensible man "sees danger coming" (Prov 22: 3, 4, 8). See how our actions will effect our friendship with Jehova, one moment of lack of judgement can ruin our many years of faithful service.

3:20 SYMPOSIUM: Loyally Uphold Jehovah’s Judgments We are lovingly attached to Jehovah but there are certain elements that can weaken that connection which is why God gives us protective laws such as the instruction to shun unrepentant sinners (see 1 Cor 5:11-13). This keeps Jehovah's organization morally clean and God's name from reproach, it protects the congregation and administers discipline. This measure can be taken even with those that are inactive. VIDEO #2: Disfellowshipped one's parents loyally refuse all contact with daughter. Jehovah fully understands the feelings of those that have unrepentent children (Ps 78). The purpose of disfellowshipping is to "yield the peaceable fruit" (Heb 12:11). Some of our most beautiful Christians are those that have undergone such discipline.

3:20 SYMPOSIUM: Loyally Uphold Jehovah’s Judgments Jehovah is a loving and forgiving God. Satan's world glorifies vengence and retaliation but we should be ready to show mercy whenever possible and elders have a responsibility to reach out for any strong evidence of change on the part of disfellowshipped individuals (see Ps 86:5; Jam 3:2). Forgiveness involve pardoning those that are repentant, that's not minimizing an offense but being willing to let go of feelings of resentment. To receive God's forgivenss we likewise must be willing to forgive (Mat 18). If Jehovah forgives, repentant individuals must forgive themselves and not continually rehash their past (Act 3:19; Lk 15:7). VIDEO #3 After 15 years, the individual responds to an elder's visit. She suffered from inappropriate Guilt meditates on Isaiah and Manasseh to forgive herself . “Is there anyone sick among you? Let him call the elders of the congregation to him, and let them pray over him, applying oil to him in the name of Jehovah. And the prayer of faith will make the sick one well, and Jehovah will raise him up. Also, if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” - James 5:14

3:55Jehovah created man in his image - to reflect his beautiful personality. Our personality is our make up, our way of thinking, who we are and righteousness and loyalty are part of the new personality that reflects Jehovah's personality (Ps 145:17). Jesus was a perfect reflection of that "new personality". Many are loyal because of tradition , nationality or religion. True loyalty however is cultivated, it is not innate, we cultivate it through prayful study and devotion and efforts to imitate Jesus. Whenever decision or events come up, look assess what to do through our knowledge of the life and teaching of Christ, cultivate a loyal attachment to Jehovah and take notice of what Jehovah wants in all areas of life. - Race We need to root out any tendencies we have to prejudice or misplaced loyalties. Loyalty to Jehovah should erase any feelings of superiorty as regards to race, nation (Prov 8:13) - Family The sons of Korah did join their father in his rebellion against Moses. Loyalty to family should nnever be greater than loyalty to Jehovah (Num 16:3) - Friends Love and loyalty for Jehovah will move us to assist a friend that's involved in wrongdoing by helping him to get the help needed (Prov 27:5) - Mate Loving attachement to ones mate is a direct demonstration of our love for Jehovah. Saddly some have allowed emotional distance to develop in some couples and opens the way for betrayal. Many refer to "a midlife crisis" but in reality its a "midlife betrayal". Besides where is the middle of forever (Mal 3) For married couples, their warm personal attachment only for our mate prove your attachment to Jehovah - Position or privilege AHIOTHOPHEL was considered very highly. Highly intellectual individuals that lack humilty can be ensnared by pride. Ahothophel came to a tragic end. Intellectual ability close association with prominent ones or even years in the truth do not immunize us to pride. CONCLUSION Continue to display loyalty that stems from a close personal relationship with Jehovah. Meaningful prayer and personal study will help us to have a determination to have the right priorities (Prov 3:5-6). Jesus remained completely loyal and so can we.

4:15INTRODUCTION: In the past it was important for the Israelites to have a loyal High Priest because the High Priest represented the nation before Jehovah. Through Paul, God revealed that Jesus Christ is the greater High Priest who would uphold justic take the lead in spiritual instruction and represent the people (Heb 7:23). Why is Jesus is a better high priest than any man that served in that capacity? Jesus became HP in Jehovah's spirititual temple [God's arrangement for worshipping Jehovah on the basis of the ransom sacrifice]. This Priesthood is superior - the sacrifice didn't cover sin, it "takes sin away "(Heb 10:4) - Jesus sacrifice was once for all time (Heb 7) - No sacrifice for his own sins was needed by Jesus for he was without sin We urgently need the services of such a high Priest. How does Jesus show loyality?- He loyally obeys his father in all things (unlike Aaron and the Golden Calf, or Eli). Jesus learnt obedience meaning the things he suffered impressed on his mind that obedience comes at a cost. To illustrate a perfect instrument that has been "bench tested" or two planes, both identical but one has been tested by a pilot (See Heb 5:8; Jh 12: 49) - Jesus loyally reflects Jehovah's perfect justice. In Jesus' day the religious leader corrupted justice (Caiphas, Anas) they were harsh and cold and used threats to intimidate the people. # VIDEO CLIP "For a certainty"[Man Born Blind] (John 9:2) - He loyally reflects Jehovah's compassion (Mark 3) Jesus was grieved by the insensitivity of the religious leaders of his day. He treated people with compassion. Although he had never himself been sick, he was still able to feel pity for those that was sick and acknowledge how "grievious" such experiences can be. He treated the woman with # VIDEO CLIP "For a certainty"[Woman with the flow of Blood] (Mark 5) loyally joins Jehovah's fight against sin and death. The High Priest acted out a prophetic drama on the day of atonement. Jesus was even before he offered the ransom, was given the power over death. # VIDEO CLIP "For a certainty"[Resurrection of Lazarus] (John Chap 11) Jesus loyaly reflected the feelings of his heavenly father and is truly hurt by the pain death and suffering inficts (John 14) and will be profoundly happy to wipe out sin and death forever. We show gratitude for Jesus as our High Priest who displayed "the spirit of wisdom and counsel" (Isa). Jesus will help us now and in the future to grow to perfection. Loyaly contintue to follow in Jesus footsteps helping others to benefit from the services of Jesus our loyal high priest.
