Where do people suppose the idea of one man one woman came from? Historically monogamy (at least for men) has never been valued. The laws against polygamy didn't evolve from apes - it is most unusual in nature. Do atheists think THEY suddenly came up with this idea by way of breaking free from the shackles of religious thinking? I think not!
It was JESUS CHRIST that introduced the idea which most Western societies have adopted as law that polygamy is wrong. It is the influence of CHRISTIANITY that is enshrined in the legal systems of the majority of democratic countries. What exacly are atheists trying to say with these kinds of questions? If its that polygamists - most of mankind, for nearly the totality of the history of mankind - are backward? If so are they also trying to highlight how enlightened and forward thinking JESUS CHRIST was?
