What Did Jesus refer to when He said "This Temple" in John 2:19?
The Greatest Man (Pdf)
Notice Jesus neither said "the temple of his spirit body" nor "the temple of his physical body" but simply "this temple" which John explained refered to THE TEMPLE OF HIS BODY.
THE TEMPLE OF HIS "BODY" - THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF ANOINTED FOLLOWERS
The temple Jesus was refering to represented not Jesus alone but also the body-members of born again Christians over which he is head.
Just as the literal temple was not made up of one stone but many, so “the temple of his body” consists of many living stones, with Jesus as the foundation cornerstone. Peter explained in 1 Pet. 2:4-7:
This "spiritual house" or "spiritual temple was collection of spirit anoited Christians working together in harmony as a "church" or congregation with Jesus as its chief or head (see 1 Cor 12: 12-26).
#QUESTION Was Jesus implying that all Christians would be destroyed or Killed and subsequently resurrected?
No, Jesus REPRESENTED the whole finished spiritual temple.
That Jesus " was talking about the temple of his body" is indesputable, since that was the explanation the Apostle John furnishes; still, this doesn't mean that every individual stone of the finished structure would have to be broken down. As the "chief cornerstone" of that SPIRITUAL temple (Mk 12:10), Jesus could represent the whole, for just as if the heart dies the foot cannot live, the temple edifice could not exist seperate or apart from Jesus (see John 15: 4, 5; 17:23).
The same principle is in scripture when Jesus announced that the "kindom of heavens had drawn near"; since the KINGDOM is in fact God's government of 144,000 anoited members, none of whom had been at that time selected, he must have been speaking of himself as the REPRESENTATIVE of the Kingdom and its members.
CONCLUSION Jesus was not refering to his physical body (or even his spirit body) but to "the temple body" ==> the building made up of the living stones after his resurrection, namely the BODY or GROUP of the anointed Christians with himself (Jesus) as its foundation (Mat 16:18 ).

John 2:19-21: "In answer Jesus said to them, ‘Break down this temple and in three days I will raise it up.' Therefore the Jews said, ‘This temple was built in forty six years, and will you raise it up in three days?' But he was talking about the temple of his body."
