The prophecy of JOEL indicated that because of their selling the sons of Judah and the sons of Jerusalem to the sons of the Greeks, the Philistines would experience like treatment. (Joe 3:4- 8) Since the words of the prophet Joel appear to have been recorded in the ninth century B.C.E., the defeats of the Philistines at the hands of Uzziah (2Ch 26:6-8) and Hezekiah (2Ki 18:8) could have been included in the fulfillment of this prophecy. However, a larger fulfillment evidently came after the Israelites returned from Babylonian exile - Insight on the Scriptures vol II Philistia p. 633

PHILISTIA : Jeremiah Chapter 47 New World Translation

"This is what proved to be the word of Jehovah to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Phi·lis´tines before Phar´aoh proceeded to strike down Ga´za. 2 This is what Jehovah has said: “Look! Waters are coming up from the north and have become a flooding torrent. And they will flood the land and what fills it, the city and those inhabiting it. And the men will certainly cry out, and everyone dwelling in the land must howl. 3 At the sound of the stamping of the hoofs of his stallions, at the rattling of his war chariots, the turmoil of his wheels, the fathers will actually not turn around to the sons, because of the dropping down of [their] hands," Jeremiah 47: 4-7 (New World Translation)
