#QUESTION: Does the Bible state in Revelation chapter 7 that the 144,000 are still on Earth when a great multitude [...] are in Heaven praising God? No the expression " they are still on earth" is not in the bible and revelation makes no such "statement". What we do read is that John states he sees four angels holding back destructive winds and then (verse 4) says "and I heard the number of those sealed, 144,000" then in verse 9 it reads "After this I saw and look a great crowd". So what we can note is the following. - While John states the order in which he sees the visions, he does not state the order in which the events will happen
- John sees this number being "sealed"
- John also thereafter sees a vision of a "great crowd"
# QUESTIONS: Does the Bible state in Revelation chapter 7 that the [...] great multitude [...] are in HEAVEN praising God? No, verse 9 of Revelation 7 states that the great crowd are standing "BEFORE the throne and BEFORE the lamb". Note the following explanation as it appears in the Jehovah's Witness manual " Reasoning from the Scriptues" p. 167 Further, apart from the above, the only information given about the "great crowd" is that they survive the great tribulation and are thereafter blessed by God (compare Rev 7:13-17). If the great crowd are already in heaven, how can they be spoken of as being survivors of the great tribulation which is a future event that will take place ON EARTH (see Mat 24: 38, 39)? CONCLUSION It is therefore scripturally sound to conclude that, rather than being a group of believers that have died and arrive in heaven before the 144,000, the great crowd are humans that are alive on earth prior to the tribulation and survive this event to continue life on earth (compare Mat 5:5). # QUESTION: Can the fact that John doesn't report the 144,000 as being in heaven ["Mount Zion"] until later in the book of Revelation ( chapter 14) mean that the "the 144,000 make it to Heaven [LATER]to join this huge crowd of other people"?No. Firstly, as has been established, there is actually nothiing in the bible that indicates the "great crowd" (KJV "great multitude") is actually in heaven. Further the visions of Revelation are not presented in strict chronological order. For example chapter 6 of Revelation ends with the the great day of God and the destruction of the "kings of the earth" (see verses 15, 17) but later in the book of Revelation in Chapter 16 we see those same kings gathered to Harmageddon (see Rev 16:14) and even later in chapter 17 the kings of the earth colaborating with the Great Harlot (see 17:18). Clearly taking a vision that appears later in the book does NOT mean that it's fulfillment will necessarily be chronologically later. CONCLUSION: The interpretation of some that the Great Crowd are believers that go to heaven prior to the 144,000 meeting them there is contextually and scripturally unsound.
