KEDESH : A city of NAPHTELI given to the Gershonites and set aside as a city of refuge. (Jos 20:7; 21:32, 33; 1Ch 6:71, 76) Because of its location it was also called “Kedesh-naphtali” (Jg 4:6) and “Kedesh in Galilee.” (Jos 20:7) Apparently the residence of Judge Barak, Kedesh served as the rallying point for his 10,000 men from Naphtali and Zebulun prior to their victory over the Canaanite army under Sisera. (Jg 4:6, 10) Centuries later the city was conquered by Assyrian King Tiglath-pileser III during the rule of Israel’s King Pekah (c. 778-759 B.C.E.).​—2Ki 15:29.

JEZREEL The geographic area embraced by the Low Plain of Jezreel. This designation is often restricted to the low plain extending in a southeasterly direction from the city of Jezreel in Issachar to Beth-shean on the western edge of the Jordan Valley. But the designation “Valley of Jezreel” is also used today to include the low plain W of Jezreel, the Plain of Esdraelon (the Greek form of the Hebrew Jezreel). Therefore, in the broad sense the “Valley of Jezreel” includes the whole plain from the Carmel Range to the Jordan River

MEGIDO : A Canaanite city situated a few miles SE of Mount Carmel, overlooking and dominating the Plain of Esdraelon (Jezreel) and controlling major N-S and E-W trade and military routes. Because of its commanding position, many other nations, according to secular history, warred around Megiddo. ‘Jews, Gentiles, Saracens, crusaders, Egyptians, Persians, Druses, Turks, and Arabs have all pitched their tents on the plain of Esdraelon.’​—Word Studies in the New Testament, by M. • Near this site Judge Barak defeated Jabin’s mighty forces under Sisera (Jg 4:7, 13-16; 5:19)
• It was at Megiddo that King Ahaziah of Judah died after he was mortally wounded on orders of Jehu. (2Ki 9:27)
• There King Josiah of Judah was killed in an encounter with Pharaoh Nechoh. (2Ki 23:29, 30)

MOUNT TABOR IN ISSACHER ON ITS BORDER WITH ZEBULUN

It is situated about 20 km (12 mi) W of the southern end of the Sea of Galilee and about 8 km (5 mi) ESE of the city of Nazareth, mount, Tabor rises abruptly from the Valley of Jezreel to an altitude of about 562 m (1,844 ft) above sea level (Ps 89:12) Jehovah also used the striking massiveness of Tabor​—standing alone in the Valley of Jezreel—​to illustrate the impressiveness of Nebuchadnezzar upon his entering Egypt with a mighty military force.​—Jer 46:13, 18.

• Barak rushed down the mountain in his attack on Sisera Judges 4:4-16
• Gideon’s brothers were killed there by Zebah and Zalmunna, the kings of Midian. (Jg 8:18, 19)
• possibly became a center for idolatry for apostate ten tribe nation .​—Ho 5:1.
