CA 2014: God's Word is Beneficial for Teaching [first talk Saturday Morning]REVIEW QUESTION: What effect does divine teaching have on our lives? Jehovah is described as our "Grand Instructor" who teaches us to "benefit ourselves" (Isaiah 48:17, 18). How does he provide this information? Through his inspired word (2 Timothy 3: 16, 17). Those who apply God's Word benefit - Physically - it helps us to avoid harmful habits such as smoking (2 Cor 77:1)
- Emotionally - a positive attidude helps us keep a "calm and simple heart" by keeping our lives simple. Our hope anchors us facing grief to not "sorry as the rest also do" (1 Thess 4:13)
- Mentally - by encouraging us to develop shredness, wisdom and thinking ability (Prov 22:3; Joshua was told to read in an undertone (Josh 1:8)
- Spiritually - we can have Jehovah's point of view of time (2 Peter 3:8)

CA 2014: God's word is BeneficialMain points: - What it means to be at your teaching?
- Good reasons to be a pioneer?
- How to become a pioneer
REVIEW QUESTION If we seek to make changes in our circumstances so as to serve Jehovah full-time, of what can we be assured? (Mal 3:10) I WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE "AT YOUR TEACHING"? All Christians are commanded to preach. How should we view our Christian ministry? The Romans were told to be " at [their] teaching". To be "at your teaching" means working to the best of our ability, being industrious and ernest, using our physical énergies to the best extent possible (see Math 28: 19, 20; Romans 12:7). This can be done by listening to divine instruction. This, like the Apostles could become accomplished teachers despite their lack of worldly instruction (Acts 1:8). Full time pioneering can help us become fully involved in teaching. When circumstances allow, Paul increased his activity (Acts 18:5). We should be ready to take advantage of the opportunity to pioneer. II WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PIONEERING? - It is the most satisfying work that there is
- You cooperate with the angels
- Assist Christ's brothers to get the preaching work done
- Pioneering allows us to experience the full measure of giving
- You can learn how to use the bible effectively
- Pioneers draw closer to Jehovah because they fully rely Jehovah and his word for everything they teach
III HOW TO BECOME A PIONEER? In order to become a pioneer A Publisher needs to cultivate the desire and have the right circumstances. A desire can be cultivated by praying sincerely (Phil 2:13). David asked "make me know your ways" (Psalms 25:4) [ Interview 1: Brother that had no desire to pioneer but whose association with other pioneers helped him] If possible, can you simplify your life in order to take up the full-time service? Some have downsized, even selling their homes to enter the FTS. Nehemiah 2: 4-6 prayed and then took measures to change his circumstances. [ Interview 2: Two brothers blessed by Jehovah for their efforts to find work that allowed them to pioneer] - If you do not have the desire to pioneer pray for it
- Talk to those who have pioneered for many years
- Carefully consider your circumstances whether you can make adjustments to allow you to pioneer
- Set goals that will enable you to increase even if your circumstances are not at present favorable
REVIEW QUESTION If we seek to make changes in our circumstances so as to serve Jehovah full-time, of what can we be assured? (Mal 3:10) That Jehovah will richly bless our efforts.

SYMPOSIUM: REJECT "STRANGE TEACHINGS" REVIEW QUESTION What should be our reaction when confronted with " strange things"? (Heb 13:9) - "The teaching of Balaam"
- "You must hate your enemy"
- "Build bigger storehouses"
- "You are bound to be like God"
INTRODUCTION Hebrews 13:9 exhorts us to avoid "strange teachings". This refers to Satan's propaganda used to bait his victims (1 Tim 1:10). This symposium deals with four areas where Satan has managed to lure people from the truth. I The teaching of Balaam Immorality Sexual immorality stumbled many Israelites, first century christians and even some today. ( Numbers 22, 31:16 Rev 2:14). Let us never think we can our zeal or past record gives us a lisence to be involved in sexual misconduct or think that we can "come back later" after deliberately committing fornication. How do so many become convinced that engaging in sexual immorality is of greater value than their Relationship with Jehovah? This starts with the deceptive thinking of this system. So we should "no longer be children tossed about as by waves ... the trickery of men"(Eph 4: 14). If we fall victim to such pervere thinking, we fall victim of Satan. [ Soliloquy: Young brother reflects on a worldly girl's advances] Any time we begin to have immoral thinking we need to remove it immediately. This will requirs self discipline. We must "pummel our body" and learn to "hate what is bad"(Proverbs 1:10). Therefore we must: - Do not flirt
- Do not fantasize
- Avoid pornography
"For setting the mind on the flesh, means death" Romans 8: 6

SYMPOSIUM II You must hate your enemyViolence is promoted by Satan through the Entertainment. The demons love violence and promote teachings that encourage violence (Gen 6:2, 13. Christians have to struggle against the spirit of hatred and violence in the world (Eph 13; Mat 5: 43). Do I support the demons efforts to promote violence through my choice of Entertainment? We must recognize that the majority of the Entertainment offered in the world is unwholesome. Entertainment provides platforms for teaching and it tries to mold us to be "wolves" (Isaiah 2:4). We must evaluate what our choices are teaching us. Those that love violence is making himself an enemy of Jehovah (Psalm 11:5) If we seek killing and violence as Entertainment it would show what is in our hearts; Teachings influence conduct. [ Demonstration: A brother invites another to paintballing (simulated war game)] By following the things we are taught in God's world we will enjoy Godly peace - Gal 5:23 Phil 4:9

- III BUILD BIGGER STOREHOUSES(Luke 12: 16)
Materialism is another one of Satan's "strange teachings". The attitude of the world is that you must obtain material possessions in order to be happy. Jesus illustrated the dangers of Greed* by the illustration of the rich man and his storehouses. This man was already rich and had sufficient income he wanted "more and more". This parable shows that a greedy person is never satisfied (see Luke 12:16, 20, 21). Jehovah called this man unreasonable (other translations "fool" always used to signify a lack of understanding - not intelligence - but a refusal to acknowledge dependency on God) for his plans focused on laying up treasures to the neglect of his service. Be content Whether we can finance our greed or not, rich or poor, we need to cultivate being content and keep our eye simple, putting kingdom service first (1 Tim 6: 7,8). How sad to attempt to build our paradise now in this temporary system when Jehovah will satisfy our every need in the future. We need to focus on the spiritual paradise we have now and ask ourselves are we content with that? * The Greek for "greed" is pleonikia: the desire to have more and moreINTERVIEW Sister that turned down high paying full time job to pioneer, she states "It's easier to have less when you know why you live with less. CONLCUSION Possesing more and more makes us more and more distracted. Build a good name with God.

- III YOU WILL BE LIKE GOD(Genesis 3:5)
Pride. As in the Garden of Eden Satan has engendered in people an inflated sense of self importance and a selfish longing for ones own desires, over estimating our own importance. This is packaged using among other things - materialism and personal image (1 John 2: 16, 17) - Social position the desire for glory (titles, position*, higher education) NOTE: Christians must examine their real motives for reaching out for congregation privilèges. - background and abilities (racism, nationalism, talents) Christians must not give in to improper pride*. What do we have that we did not receive? (1 Cor 4:7). Walter Thorn, one of the first "pilgrims" developed a humble attitude. Jesus never sought to be equal to Jehovah but had a humble attitude (Phil 2: 5 - 8). We must in prayer strive to have the same attitude.

CA 2014: God's Word is Beneficial for TeachingIMITATE JESUS' WAY OF TEACHING REVIEW QUESTION How can we imitate Jesus' way of teaching? We are involved in the greatest teaching campaign of all time, teaching people how to live, operate in an emergency. Jesus, the greatest teacher of all time, was "accustomed to " teach the crowds were astounded by his "way of teaching for he was teaching them as a person having authority." (Mat 7: 28; Mark 10:1) Jesus devoted his whole life to teaching people of every walk of life. To teach successfully we must imitate Jesus way of teaching. Seven ways we can imitate Jesus- Be a good student of God's word the bible (John 8: 28)
- Use God's word the bible (2 Tim 3: 16, 17)

CA 2014: God's Word is Beneficial for Teaching [final talk Saturday afternoon]AS TEACHERS OF OTHERS, TEACH YOURSELVES! REVIEW QUESTION Why should teachers in the congregation, teach themselves? (Romans 2: 21) If we are going to teach others, we must learn ouselves first. It would be hypocritical to tell people to avoid something that we ourselves are doing that very thing - our lives have to harmonize with what we teach if our teaching is to bring honour to Jehovah God (Romans 2: 21 - 24) BE GENTLEJehovah and Jesus are likened in the bible to shepherds tenderly looking after the sheep "gently" leading those nursing their young. Jesus explains he is "mild tempered" and his yoke is "kindly" (Isaiah 40: 10, 11; Mat 11: 28 - 30). Gentleness is a necessity for those in posittion of responsibilbity, Paul explains that a slave of the Lord needs to be "gentle towards all", so family heads should be obeyed out of love and not fear and elders should be "gengle" like a nursing mother looks after her baby (2 Tim 2: 24, 25). Elders must reajust with mildness - gentle persuasion is more effective than harsh critism. Make allowances for human imperfection not always insisting to the letter of the law. Acting this way will forge a strong bond of mutuel affection and trust between the elders and the members of the congregation. ADORN GOD'S TEACHINGTo 'adorn' something means to make something more beautiful. We make the message more beautiful by living by what we teach. To exhort others effectively we must live in harmony with what we tell others to do (see Titus 2:6). We must do that in everything that we do and be "faithful in little" as well as in bigger matters. ENSURE WHAT YOU TEACH IS NOT YOUR OWN
Base teachings on the word of God, counsel must be based not on personal experience. The sheep benefit most when they are encouraged to listen to Jehovah expressed through the bible or publications provided by the faithful Slave. Rather than local custums, personal education or personal opinion he must look to the example of Jesus who never taught from his own wisdom but always referred to God's word. (see John 7: 16-19. First century Christians are also good examples, Luke also sought to record things with accuracy and Aquila and Precila correctly Apollos (Luke 1: 3, 4). Just as it is dangerous to violate God's laws on the physical plane, so we must know God's moral and spiritual laws. We need a good Schedule of study to know if our thoughts harmonize with Jehovah's. Can we make more time for study and meditation?
Ezra "prepared his heart" to teach and so may we (Ezra 7:10)
