- The largest species of stork is the marabou stork, stands at a height of 152 centimeters (4.9 ft), weighs 9 kilograms (20 pounds) and has a wingspan of 3.7 meters (12 feet) the largest wing-spread of any living bird.
- The white stork (Ciconia ciconia), found in Israel, has white plumage except for the flight feathers of its wings, which are a glossy black.
- The white stork may stand as much as nearly 1.2 m (4 ft) in body length, with a wingspan that may extend up to 2 m (6.5 ft)
- Storks are migratory birds and fly vast distances across continents to their nesting areas
