Isa 43:11 "I, I am Jehovah; and there is no Saviour besides Me." 2Pe 3:18 "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen." QUESTION: Since Jehovah said that there is no Saviour besides him and since Jesus and Jehovah are both called "Saviour", does this represent a contradiction or support for the trinity doctrine? The title "savior" or deliverer (Hebrew "yasha" Greek "soter") is applied in scripture to many individuals. For example the book of Judges speaks of men and women that "saved" God's people from oppressors. The statement In Isaiah 43 thus refers to "Savior" in the absolute sense. In other words, there is only one most high source of salvation (or only one savior or deliverer [yasha/soter] in the highest sense of the word, all other "saviors" being relative to this one. Jesus is a savior in the sense of being the only one through whom God has extended the opportunity for eternal salvation as John 3:17 states: "Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him." - NRSV. In short God is the source of salvation, Jesus was the instrument. In a similar way, Jehovah (YHWH) is the "only" savior not in the sense that no one else can legitimately be called "a savior" but in the sense that all true salvation is initiated through him and only He can be called savior in the absolute sense. Jesus being the chief instrument through which that salvation is extended.BIBLE COMMENTARIES Since it was God who permitted the oppression and raised up deliverers [saviors], he himself was Israel's ultimate Judge and Deliverer [Savior]." - NIVSB introduction to the book of Judges "Because God is the initiator [source] of salvation, both he and Christ are called soter, saviour ..." - The New International Dictionary of New Testament Theology, p. 78, Vol. 2, Zondervan, 1986. source: answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20130601170720AA73GyRanswers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20130601170720AA73GyRca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100526120320AAB3NIJAlso see examiningthetrinity.blogspot.fr/2009/11/trinity-proof-texts.html
