* Discussion "last days" (Hebrews)QUESTION: Was Peter refering to the 2nd coming of Christ and the end of the entire world system of things at 1 Peter 1: 20?No, the context indicates Peter was refrerring to the end of the period of waiting for the fulfillment of scripture and the revelation of the Messiah. Peter references the consecreation of the promised Messiah from ancient times and then pinpoints the fact that that one {quote} has appeared in these last times {end quote} so Peter links the "these last times" not with the destruction of the entire wicked world syste and Christ's Second coming in kingdom power or future Messianic glories but with Jesus' appearance as the long promised Messiah as a human. [Foundation of the world] < ------------ preordained period -----------> [Christ Appearance/Manifestation] Peter concludes stating "Through him you are believers in God, the one who raised him up from the dead+ and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope might be in God." (NWT). So rather than linking the "last times" with future events, Peter links them with the revelation, death and resurrection of Christ's FIRST coming.
